    This December, head to the Visitor Center at Natural Bridge State Park for our 5th Annual Festival of Trees. Get into the holiday spirit by placing donated items under your favorite trees decorated by local area businesses and organizations. This year's donations will benefit the Project Horizon, a non-profit organization dedicated to eradicating domestic, dating, and sexual violence in the Rockbridge County area through crisis intervention services and prevention programs. We hope to see you this winter at Natural Bridge State Park. Call (540) 291-1331 for more information. Needed donation items are as follows: toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent, light bulbs, pillows, diapers, deodorant (men & women), toothpaste, baby lotion, towels, bedsheets (twin & full size), plastic mattress covers (twin & full size), sponges, gas and grocery gift cards.

    You and your family are invited to enjoy Buchanan's first, Festival of Lights display on the Buchanan Town Park now thru December 27th. DONATIONS ACCEPTED at entry. Thousands of lights adorn trees and buildings on the grounds of the Buchanan Town Park located at 485 Lowe Street. To meet COVID safety Guidelines, on weekends Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, the Festival of Lights is a Drive Thru experience only, weekdays will be walk thru Mondays thru Thursdays. Please remain in your vehicles during Drive Thru Nights, and, practice proper social distancing and wearing masks on Walk Thru Nights.     Clark's Lumber Company is an operating sawmill that produces the components of prefabricated log houses, however, on most Friday nights the company's Planer Building becomes a haven for old-time music and mountain dance! The mountain music tradition lives on at Clark’s! Featuring mountain music, bluegrass music and dancing (two-step, flatfoot, waltz). Family atmosphere. A haven for old-time music and mountain dance! Musicians from the surrounding communities get together and are joined by over 100 dancers and listeners. Join Bruce Clark and the gang for a real down-home good time and help keep this Appalachian mountain music tradition alive. No alcohol or smoking on premises.     Luminary Nights at Natural Bridge State Park

    Experience Natural Bridge State Park like never before. Featuring new light systems, roaring fires and refreshments provided by the Friends of Natural Bridge State Park, the park is awash in the holiday spirit this December. Enjoy an after-dark stroll along the illuminated Cedar Creek Trail and under the Natural Bridge, which will be lit up with a new lighting system that highlights the crags and clefts of the monolith. Back at the Pavilion, warm up around one of our campfires and relax with friends and family. Friday nights will be for pedestrians only. Carriage rides will be offered on Saturday and Sunday nights at $15 per rider, admission included. Guests are welcome to walk the trail Saturday and Sunday but will share the trail with the carriage. Regular admission applies for guests not taking a carriage ride. Guests must register for carriage rides by calling (540) 291-1331.

    Join us for the Brownsburg Community Association’s Third Annual Run of the Mill 5k, a point-to-point road race, jog or walk from historic Brownsburg over slightly hilly tarmac terrain through beautiful farmland, crossing several creeks, cheered on by local cows, sheeps and residents and finishing at Wade’s Mill. It is a fun day for all and proceeds contribute to the Brownsburg Community Association’s support for student scholarships, first responders and community projects. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church, 31 Academy Alley, Brownsburg 24415.  Race starts at 10 a.m. All ages and abilities are welcome! Age groups:
